Steampunk or Neo-Victorian is about letting yourself to be transported it a Victorian future. I have been fascinated with the mixing of twentieth century technology and the Victorian aesthetic ever since I saw a tricked out steampunk keyboard. I just recently ran across a wedding in Ruffled that was sprinkled with steampunk elements. I though it was just beautiful and I want to help all those who dream of their own steampunk wedding.
If you only want to be inspired by the Steampunk aeasthetic then focus only on certain components. Think of wood, brass, leather and iron elements that you can to inject into your wedding. Your colors should be inspired by an Victorian look and decide what details will hint at the steampunk aesthetic.Instead of an entire steampunk cake just find a steampunk inspired cake topper or you can have a moleskin guest book. This way you still have a unique wedding without straying to far from tradition.
If you want a wedding that is unmistakably steampunk you must make sure that from the dress to the table coverings everything says steampunk. You can go as far as encouraging your guest to dress in the Neo-Victorian style for your wedding day. Think about your location and if it will add to the theme. Old industrial warehouses or Victorian houses would be a great place to start.By keeping your theme consistent your wedding guest will be transported into another world at their arrival.
If you need a little bit of inspiration you could read stories by authors like H.G. Wells or Jules Verne. You can also look at more contemporary sources like Kinetic steam works and Steam Punk Tree House. Etsy is a great source to find steampunk or Noe-Victorian styled element like jewelry, wedding dresses and cake toppers. There is also Steampunk Couture to find elements for your wedding attire. When you are working with your vendors be sure to show them pictures of your ideas so that they can draw inspiration form what you have collected and already accomplished.
Have fun and let me know if you need a photographer becasue I would love to take pictures of your steampunk wedding.
